Gluten Free Bread

UPDATE!!!

Looking to  go GRAIN FREE and try the paleo diet?

Check out information at the bottom of the page... It will give you all the recipes you need to help you stay Paleo for life!

Gluten free bread seems to be the first thing that a majority of people are interested in knowing about when transitioning to a gluten free diet.

Why?

Because let’s face it, we love our CARBS! So much so that many fight the transition to a gluten free diet because of “not being able to eat bread anymore!”

Is that really true?

As some may say it is, I would have to venture and say that it is NOT the end of the world for my fellow gluten free transitioners.

You can enjoy your carbs as was mentioned in my Gluten free Pasta article.

So, the questions really are:

  • What is a good Gluten Free Bread?
  • Is there bread out there that can soothe my carbohydrate palette?
  • Can I actually enjoy my toast in the morning?

The answers are Yes, Yes and Yes. You can enjoy what has been manufactured for gluten free lifestyles. As a matter of fact, now is the best time for those who need to change, to do so because bread makers have taken notice of the high demand of good gluten free bread!

So, What is a good Gluten Free Bread?

Well that depends on your own taste palette.

And, also on your style of bread. There are types explained below:

Let me clarify that this article is not about breaking down each and every GF bread that is out there but to help you, as the reader, to distinguish what you need most out of a bread, then encourage you to search for the bread that will satisfy your particular taste buds.

For those who like a great "Out of the Oven" type of bread, that has a fluffy texture and can stay moist for days, I would encourage you to make your own bread. If you have a bread maker, there are many different varieties that work with that. Personally, I enjoy baking it the old fashioned way- by mixing, kneading and allowing to rise in a bread pan to get the full effect.

For those who would rather purchase a store bought bread, that has a nice taste to it, much like regular white bread, there really a lot to choose from, however, I would encourage you to exercise caution in what you pick- it can make your experience very negative forcing you only to complain and maybe turning back to your old ways-which we wouldn't want:

Some I recommend:

When buying online, I find it better to buy in bulk to get the most bang for your buck!

Bob's Red Mill Gluten-Free Homemade Wonderful Bread Mix, 16-Ounce Packages (Pack of 4)
Bobs Red Mill Hearty Whole Grain Bread Mix G/Free (4x20 Oz)
Glutino Gluten Free Pantry Favorite Sandwich Bread Mix, 22-Ounce Boxes (Pack of 6)

I would also recommend buying a good Gluten free bread cookbook that you can add to your references.

*** I LOVE 'Gluten Free On a Shoe String' Nicole Hunn's approach to anything gluten free! I highly recommend her books!

Udi’s- anything in this brand is great!!! I love Udi’s White Bread. It tastes similar to what I used to enjoy before my gluten free diet. It is made with white rice bread and makes a great sandwich

Rudi’s-the newest competitor to Udi’s, Rudi’s is also an ideal choice in the bread world.

Again, these are only my recommendations.

The search for a great gf bread can be challenging but it isn’t impossible. With the help of gluten free lovers like myself, my hope is that you will be able to fully enjoy your warm, buttered toast in the morning or your favorite grilled cheese recipe or even our childhood staple of PB&J! If you have any questions or suggestions on what YOUR favorite gluten free bread may be, feel free to Contact Me and we can share!

A Quote is a great way to end this article. May it feed your soul the way it has mine and make you think of your choices in a positive, passionate way!

Want to ditch the bread all together?

The Paleo Diet may be what you need!

When you ditch bread, pasta, rice, refined cereals, sugary foods, preservatives and additives... everything changes. Remember, those so-called foods were NOT part of our diets thousands of years ago and not coincidentally, there were no incidents of heart disease, cancer, obesity, diabetes and other conditions.

But there is a solution, because there is a way to eat an old-fashion diet that promotes good health, high energy, weight loss and disease prevention. The best part is, it is the easiest and simplest approach to healthy eating you will ever come across and it is one you can maintain over your whole lifetime while enjoying every moment.

Why risk getting sick or suffer through diets filled with rules and boring meals... especially when you now have a way to eat the best tasting food ever and feel amazing while doing it!
