Gluten free pasta has inspired the gluten free world! Finding out about it has helped so many on the path to better intestinal health.
The average person loves carbs so much that they literally will pass on what is good for them only to enjoy one last bite of a carb meal, especially- PASTA!
I have actually heard people close to me who have a gluten intolerance (whether from a Dr.’s diagnosis or recognizing the effects of gluten on their body) say that they would rather be sick and take medication for whatever ails them then to eat gluten free because of the PASTA! Healthy cooking is difficult for them to adjust to.
The first time I heard this, I almost bit my tongue off trying not SCREAM out to them:
You have got to be kidding me! ( A little harsh I know)
Then, the old adage that my mother recited to me as a child popped into my head. She would say:
“Amy, you have got to start learning how to live and let live!” “People have the right to make choices that you may not personally agree with!”
There is so much truth to that statement! Nothing like a mama to set her child straight!
What I recognize now
is that Education is what people need to help them learn to do what is
right for them. The truth is that most of us want to do what is right for our
bodies. Healthy cooking is a priority if we just know what to cook and how to
cook it. Eating gluten free is a lifestyle that only gets easier if you make an educated, conscious choice to do it.
So, where does Gluten Free pasta fall into the picture? What is it? Why is it worth trying? And how can you get a hold of it?
Gluten Free Pasta: What is it?
Put simply, it is pasta made from gluten free grains. I know it sounds like a no brainer but you need to do your homework to figure out what gluten free grains are.
A short list is:
The most popular is Brown rice pasta. When cooked properly (exactly according to the directions on the bag) and al dente, it is very difficult to tell that it is gluten free. It tastes wonderful with your favorite gf sauce.
For those of you who are trying to cut out all grains, Spaghetti Squash is FABULOUS! It is so easy to cook and tastes wonderful with all your favorite sauces as well. AND it has been tested by guys and is a winner! Can’t beat that!
Why is it worth trying?
In all seriousness, knowing you need to eat gluten free should not be a hassle! Being open minded to the idea that there is PASTA out there that can actually fill your cravings is GREAT!
You might be surprised as to how yummy it is to eat gluten free pasta.
If eating gf pasta can help you on the path to better health, is it not worth trying? If it can help you transition your diet to a way that will help you heal your insides, is it not worth trying?
